Background What is CSSP?
The Community Safety & Security Programme (CSSP) is an action plan jointly drawn up by the grassroots leaders, residents and the Home Team to tackle community issues and problems affecting the safety and security of the local neighbourhood. This plan is a proactive approach in implementing joint Community-Home Team projects and activities to meet the safety and security needs of the local community, important cornerstones of promoting the spirit of self-help and mutual support. CSSP also serves to foster community cohesion and bonding among local grassroots leaders and residents, and promotes ‘Active Citizenry' among Singaporeans as part of the Singapore 21 Vision. Who should take part in it?
CSSP is owned by the community. Each and every member of the community must be involved and realise that he or she can contribute to the safety and security of the community. About the CSSP logo
The logo exemplifies the community working in partnership with the People's Association, grassroots and the Home Team, to keep Singapore safe and secure, and to bring the Community Safety & Security Programme (CSSP) to greater heights. - Blue man represents The Home Team
- Green man represents the People's Association/Grassroots Organisations
- Red man represents partnering *agencies, **councils, etc
- Yellow man represents the Community/Residents
*Agencies include companies, family service centres, town councils, volunteer organizations, etc
**Councils include National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), National Fire Prevention Council (NFPC) and National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) What is the National CSSP Award?
The National CSSP Awards was instituted in May 2003 to recognise outstanding CSSP projects and community volunteers on a nation-wide basis. These National CSSP Awards complement the CSSP Awards given at the Community Development Councils district level. Click here for more on the National CSSP Award. CSSP Awards Nomination Criteria - Ability to accurately identify community safety & security concerns and potential problems
- Creation & implementation of a set of action plan
- Extent of involvement of residents and other agencies such as schools or voluntary welfare organizations
- Multi-racial participation
- Impact of the CSSP initiative
- Amount of creative and positive publicity and communication
SOUTH WEST DISTRICT CSSP AWARDS South West District CSSP Awards commenced since 2004. The Awards aim to recognise the efforts of local CSSP initiatives be it from the grassroots organisations, schools or youth organisations and from other organisations such as workplace, religious or other community organisations. The Awards also serve to nominate the best local CSSP initiatives for National CSSP Awards. Project Secure Fund You can apply for funding support from the CDC for your CSSP project. Project Secure @ South West is to provide subsidy to local CSSP initiatives which are carried out. The grant is subject to $1,000 per project or 50% whichever is lower. It is provided for all organisations, be it grassroots organisations, schools or other organisations. See application form to apply Project Secure @ South West Report Form
