WHAT WE ACHIEVED WITH OUR STAKEHOLDERS

The South West CDC’s vision of “Owning Your Community” can only be achieved when residents, community partners and corporations come forward to make a difference. Here are the five key areas where our partners have contributed meaningfully to the community through the South West CDC’s projects and programmes:

Helping the Needy & Elderly
Assisting the Unemployed
Nurturing Our Youths
Developing Family Bonds & Healthy Lifestyles
Saving our Environment
Helping the Needy & Elderly

Helping the underprivileged is the responsibility of everyone in the community. Good corporate citizens can lend a helping hand to uplift the lives of the less fortunate through the CDC’s projects/programmes or through customised programmes.

The South West CDC’s Project GAPc (Giving Away Personal Computers) enabled 100 needy families to own their own refurbished computer. The project was supported by Lee Foundation, Shangri-la Hotel, NTUC Income, Funan IT Mall and ITE College West.

Assisting the Unemployed

Companies can help South West residents by opening up job vacancies to our job-seekers. Upon receipt of the Job Order Form submitted by the company, the South West CDC will identify suitable job applicants from its database for your company’s consideration. The service is free of charge. Additionally, the South West CDC organises regular job fairs and co-organises walk-in interviews with the participation of corporations.

The first-ever job fair for women held at the Jurong East Bus Interchange offered over 1,000 jobs from companies such as The Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore, McDonald’s, and security management firm Royal Academy Training Pte Ltd. The job fair attracted over 5,000 job-seekers.

Nurturing Our Youths

Our youths are creative, energetic and passionate about what they do. They often organise innovative projects that engage other youths, be it for community service, charity or active citizenry. Companies can help nurture our youths by supporting our many events organised by youths.

Youth Excellence Award In The Heartlands! (YEAH!), launched with the support of corporate partner, City Developments Ltd, is a platform that allows youths aged 13 to 25 years to contribute to the community by organising or joining activities that strengthen community bonding or volunteerism. The award recognises youths for their effort and contribution to the community.

Developing Family Bonds & Healthy Lifestyles

Many companies have embraced pro-family and healthy lifestyle initiatives as part of their work environment. The South West CDC also seeks to promote family and social bonding, and healthy living among South West residents through our events and programmes.

Launched in 2005, Family Funnival @ South West is an annual event that celebrates family values, bonding and procreation in the South West District. Leveraging on the CDC’s many community and corporate partners, the event features fun activities and games for the district’s residents and families to have a common day out. Corporate partners that have participated in the Family Funnival @ South West include Munchies, Dumex, Tong Garden, 77th Street, Chimei Group, Jetstar Asia and Abbott Nutrition.

Saving our Environment

Corporations have played a major part in helping the South West CDC promote a pro-green and eco-friendly South West District. We welcome participation from companies which believe in sustainable development and in preserving Mother Earth, starting right here in Singapore.

100,000 Native Plants @ South West – Rooted In Your Community is a three-year community gardening initiative in partnership with community and corporate partners to restore the natural heritage of Singapore by planting 100,000 native trees in the South West District. This project involves community partners such as schools, grassroots organisations, the National Environment Agency, National Parks Board, Eco 4 The World and corporate sponsor Shell Singapore.
