Art D’ECO @ South West

Art D’ECO @ South West is the 3rd South West District Arts Festival by the South West Community Development Council (CDC) and National Arts Council (NAC), to foster a more vibrant community spirit in the South West District. A month-long celebration, the festival will feature environmental themes and aims to engage residents, as a community, through the visual artsuch as public art installations and wearable art , and the performing arts. Join us this June at the various arts happenings in your neighbourhood!

  • Saturday! @ Series
  • Support our local creative and enterprise efforts and immerse yourself in local culture and the arts!
  • Experience art workshops and displays , hands-on art and a variety of artistic showcase, visual and performing, and enjoy performances under the evening night sky.

i) Saturday! @ Taman Jurong
Romance the night away at Taman Jurong and be mesmerised by the serene sounds of the Zither and Flute.

What: Romance of the Zither and Flute

ii) Saturday! @ Keat Hong
Featuring Chinese cultural performances, including Lion Dance and Dragon Dance performances. Get your heart thumping to the sounds of ethnic drums . Treasures await you at the flea markets by residents.

What: Chinese Cultural Night, Lion & Dragon Dance Performance

iii) Saturday! @ Bukit Batok
A multi-racial cum modern dance competition that enhance the beauty of our different cultures.

What: Multi-Racial Cultural Fiesta

When: Saturday, 27 June 2009, from 9am to 10pm


Pay Arts Forward @ South West

‘Paint-A-Home’ is an annual special project adopted by the National University of Singapore Students’ Community Service Club (NUS CSC). The project aims to make a positive difference in the community by repainting and refurbishing the environment, thus creating a more vibrant and cheerful environment. This year, NUS CSC volunteers will be painting the interior of rental flats at Telok Blangah, in conjunction with the Adopt-A-Rental Block @ South West.

Arts at the Mall @ South West

Relax, unwind and be entertained whilst you shop! Happening on weekend evenings, Arts at the Mall @ South West will showcase performances and visual art by local talents. Learn a craft via the hands-on workshop conducted by WEWorkz, a women’s cooperative, at the malls.

Wall Art @ South West

See a more colourful district! Witness the unveiling of 3 beautiful glass mosaic wall art pieces, specially designed for the SouthWest district. Depicting the theme of racial harmony, these wall art pieces have been created by students and other members of the district for the general enjoyment of all.

24-Hr EcoChic Fashion Bootcamp

Want to create wearable art that can storm the fashion runways? Participants in the district’s first-ever 24-Hr EcoChic Fashion Bootcamp will have the opportunity to learn how to create art pieces from unwanted garments and materials, giving new life to the old! Entries will be judged by local fashion icons, and winners can look forward to attractive prizes! What better way to showcase the winning designs then to have them paraded by green ambassadors from Miss Earth Singapore!

South West Arts Blast!

Let’s paint the town red! Be entertained and mesmerised by multi-cultural and multi-faceted performances by local arts groups such as Bloco Singapura, Artiste Seni Budaya Tepak Sireh and Alapana Arts, and by the Japanese Culture Society. Enjoy joyous and unforgettable performances ranging from invigorating drum and percussion displays to lyrical cultural dances. . Watch the “EcoChic – Green With Envi” fashion show, where green ambassadors from Miss Earth Singapore will parade wearable art pieces designed by students from Raffles Design Institute and the finalists of the24-Hr EcoChic Fashion Bootcamp!
